Your Support in Action: Braulio's Story - A Community United in Hope

Braulio, the sole provider for his wife and five children, worked at the same company for 15 years. However, his cancer diagnosis several months ago turned their lives upside down. Though Braulio relied on savings and short-term disability, his benefits were about to expire, leaving the family in a challenging financial situation.

A parishioner reached out to our St. Thomas the Apostle Conference, asking if the Society could assist with transportation from Huntsville for Braulio's medical appointments in Houston. Due to his condition, he could no longer drive, and his wife doesn't drive either.

During a home visit, the Vincentians learned the family's finances were strained due to the reduced income. Our St. Thomas the Apostle Conference stepped in to pay their electric and water bills for two months, knowing they faced ongoing challenges. The Vincentians also arranged transportation for Braulio's surgery and pre-surgery appointments and provided a hotel room the night before his early morning surgery. After his discharge, our Vincentians brought him home safely.

With their income nearly gone, the family will need continued support. Our Vincentians are committed to helping them and are working with the parish community to raise funds to assist Braulio during this difficult time.

"We are incredibly grateful for the love and support we've received. It's comforting to know that even in our darkest moments, we are not alone," Braulio shared. His words remind us of the strength and hope this family continues to carry despite their struggles.

Help us uplift neighbors in need like Brauio and his family.
